"I feel bad leaving a negative review, but I want others to know about my experience. The people who performed my service are NOT LICENSED COSMETOLOGISTS, which I did not realize when I booked my appointment. I was new to the area and assumed I was booking with trained, licensed professionals. In addition to the issues with my service, I was also concerned by the lack of proper cleanliness (such as using a tub of vaseline on my skin that didn't appear to be disinfected) during my appointment. I booked an appointment online for a color retouch and haircut. I had about an inch of regrowth, a light-colored money piece, and the rest of my hip-length hair was already black. My request was to touch up the inch of regrowth in black and color the money piece black so it would blend with the rest of my hair. Instead, they applied black dye to my entire head. Halfway through the coloring process, one of the workers asked whether I wanted my whole head black. If there was any confusion, that conversation should have happened before any color was applied. I explained that yes, I wanted my hair to be entirely black, but it already was, aside from the regrowth and money piece. They told me that because they had dyed my entire head, they would have to charge me for a full-color service instead of a retouch. I didn't argue because they were still in the middle of my appointment and I didn't want to create conflict before they finished. I planned to explain my point of view after the service ended, but by that point I was already crying so I just paid and left. I ended up being charged $60 more than the quoted price because of a mistake that I never requested. To make matters worse, they appeared to run out of black dye while coloring the back of my head. They never acknowledged this or mentioned that they had not prepared enough color. Now that I've gone home and inspected, I do have light patches. The haircut was even more upsetting. I repeatedly explained that I wanted to keep my overall length while adding some layers near the top to remove weight and improve the shape of my hair. I made it very clear that I was extremely attached to my long hair. The stylist asked if I was sure I didn't want more taken off the ends. I said that if she truly felt it was necessary, she could trim A LITTLE, but I wanted to preserve my length, even if that meant the ends weren't perfect. If she wasn't comfortable honoring that request, I would have completely respected her decision to decline the service, as is a stylist's right. Instead, after assuring me she understood, she cut off more than six inches from the bottom of my hair and layered the rest even shorter. At that point there was nothing I could do. I spent the remainder of the appointment trying not to cry. One of the workers told me it was "not even that short," despite the fact that I had just lost over six inches of hair after specifically asking to preserve my length. I also do not believe any heat protectant was applied before my hair was blow-dried. I had explained that my goal was simply to reduce the weight at the top because my hair naturally looked straight near the scalp and wavy at the ends, creating a triangular shape that I disliked. I left with my hair styled into an even more triangular shape than before. By the time I checked out, I was crying. I honestly haven't felt as ugly as I did walking out of this salon in years, maybe my whole life. It felt like they chose to do my hair according to what they thought looked best instead of listening to what I repeatedly asked for. I have no doubt that it will take me years to regain the length I lost last night, and now I will have to pay a real professional to try and fix the mess that was made. I can't express how deeply disappointed I am with my experience. Please do not come here if you need a professional hair service."
